FOUR AMAZING HEALTH BENEFIT OF GINGER
What a
humble herb, to be so grand, so mighty in strength, so hard working, all for
such little recognition. This is an
herb to be discovered, experienced and enjoyed in abundance! There is far too little celebration,
understanding and appreciation for the wonder of ginger, but this has not
always been the case. From its origin to the present, ginger is the world’s
most widely cultivated herb. It is among the healthiest and
most delicious spices on the planet. It is loaded with nutrients and bioactive
compounds that have powerful benefits for your body and brain.
However, ginger has been used for its medicinal
properties for centuries among many cultures.
Consuming fruits and
vegetables of all kinds has long been associated with a reduced risk of many
lifestyle-related health conditions.
The root or underground stem (rhizome) of the
ginger plant can be consumed fresh, powdered, dried as a spice, in oil form or
as juice. Ginger is part of the Zingiberaceae family, alongside cardamom and
turmeric.
I never paid attention to the health benefits of ginger till I started
drinking a cup of ginger tea daily.
Here are some useful benefits I
want to share with you.
Digestive issues
Eat fresh ginger just before lunch to fire up the digestive juice in the
body. The phenolic compounds in ginger
are known to help relieve stomach irritation, stimulate saliva and bile
production and suppress gastric contractions and movement of food and fluids
through the gastrointestinal
tract.
Nausea
Chewing raw ginger or drinking ginger tea is a common home remedy for
nausea during cancer treatment. Pregnant
women experiencing morning sickness can safely use ginger to relieve nausea and
vomiting, often in the form of ginger lozenges or candies. During cold weather,
drinking ginger tea is a good way to keep warm. It promotes sweating, working to
warm the body from within. As such, in the wake of a cold weather, ginger tea
is particularly useful.
Pain reduction
Ginger tea with brown sugar is used in the treatment of menstrual
cramps. It relieves nasal consumption
and sore throat as well as reduces joint muscle pain. It is an excellent medicine for cold and flu.
Inflammation
Ginger has been used for centuries to reduce inflammation and treat
inflammatory diseases such as ulcer. It is again used in knocking fever. This makes
it effective in stimulating circulation of the blood, relaxing muscles around the
blood vessels and help prevent blood dot from forming.
Many studies have suggested that increasing consumption of plant foods
like ginger decreases the risk of obesity, diabetes, heart disease and overall
mortality while promoting a healthy complexion and hair, increased energy and
overall lower weight. Include ginger in your diet and stay healthy.
Good one
